About Me
I’m an experienced, freelance graphic designer located in the Greater Austin Area. I genuinely love designing and feel I have a natural talent for arranging things. Whether it’s ornaments on my Christmas tree, trinkets on a shelf, or elements in a design, everything has to be “just so” or I’ll lose sleep over it.
Texas CMBL Vendor Number: 14516614212 | Software skills: Adobe Creative Suite, primarily InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, and Dreamweaver. Microsoft Office, HTML, CSS, and Accessibility for both print and web. CMS/website builders WordPress, Elementor, and Plone. Also RoboHead project management.
A Perfectionist at Heart
I don’t exempt much—including my own work—from scrutiny. I can’t help it. Whether looking over a menu or perusing magazine covers, the designer in me is always mentally critiquing whatever I’m looking at.
Education
I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.S. in Advertising. Since then I’ve been designing everything from brochures and billboards to trade show displays and website graphics.
Work History
In addition to freelancing, I spent 28 years in the communications division of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), first as a graphic designer and then as an art director.
My Portfolio
Everything you’ll see here represents 100% scratch-made layouts created solely by me. I’ve never once used a downloaded, ready-made template. Every design was crafted by taking the copy provided and marrying it with various forms of artwork that (hopefully you’ll agree) transformed it into an effective, well-executed, and visually pleasing message.

Allow Me a Rant About My Pet Peeves
High among my pet peeves are sloppy layouts, which I see all the time. I’m talking about when centered elements aren’t actually centered, when text columns aren’t perfectly aligned across their tops and bottoms, when margins are uneven, when a partial sentence sits alone at the top of a column, or when a hyphenated word breaks across columns—or worse—pages! I could go on and on.
Such design faux pas can really detract from a professional-looking product, especially in lengthy publications. I endeavor to keep my work free of such defects.
And, as much as poor design frustrates me, I’m in absolute awe of a beautiful design that is well executed. When I come across a layout that impresses me I usually find myself wishing it was my handiwork.
My Promise to Work Hard
I’m very meticulous and can’t help but work hard, especially when creating. It may be your brochure, your pop-up display, your t-shirt, your project. But once I begin designing it becomes mine too, and I can’t rest until we’re both satisfied. I care deeply about my work and want every project I touch to look good.
